01. Can you use flowers that are already dried?

Yes, I have created keepsakes that are air-dried. As long as the flowers are not crumbling into dust or covered in mould, they are usually workable. Setting your flowers in resin will freeze them in time and protect them from further decay from moisture and dust.

02. What is the process?

The preservation process involves several detailed steps and each takes time. First, I preserve your flowers in either natural desiccant or silica crystals. This can take 2-4 weeks to complete, depending on the type of flowers. I must ensure that each bloom is dried thoroughly. Next, I work with you to arrange your flowers in a design through email. This step can take 1-2 weeks depending on when the design is approved. Then, the resin pouring begins. This can take 3-4 weeks depending on how many layers of resin the piece requires and whether or not I have a mould available at that time (I only have so many moulds of each size which can sometimes cause a delay).

03. What should I expect from the resin process?

It is normal for flowers to show bruising when they are casted in resin. They are small translucent spots on the petals of the flowers and aren’t seen until the resin hits them. Bruising is caused from the handling of the flowers (the flowers being harvested, shipped to the florist, the creation of the bouquet, being held all day on your special day, and then dropping off to me). It is important to be gentle with your bouquet on your wedding day and keep in a vase of water when not in use.

I only use premium quality resin that has UV inhibitors in it to help prevent discolouring. Yellowing of the resin can occur if the keepsake is placed in constant direct sunlight or if it is exposed to heat.

04. Do you use all the flowers in my bouquet?

Because of the wear throughout the day, I will be careful to use the best blooms, with the least amount of imperfections. It's important for me to have as many flowers as possible, as not all flowers dry equally. All the varieties of flowers react differently to the preservation process, but even the same type of flowers may settle differently. After I preserve them all, I pick the best ones for your selected keepsakes. The leftover flowers start loosing colour if they are not in resin, and for this reason I won't be able to give them back to you.
